About:

Eric Urpa is an Oregon Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT #29051) and the founder of The MFR Effect, a specialized bodywork practice focused on chronic pain relief and lasting structural change. With over five years of clinical experience and more than 200 hours of advanced myofascial training, Eric works with clients whose pain has persisted despite trying conventional treatments, offering a rigorous, results-driven alternative rooted in fascial science.

Eric's training was shaped by years of hands-on study under Frances Nicolais at The Myofascial Release Center in Glendale, California, where he developed deep expertise in full-body fascial techniques, trigger point therapy, sports and fitness applications, visceral release, scar tissue work, and cranial sacral therapy. He also holds Usui Reiki certifications at Levels I and II. Prior to establishing his own practice, Eric worked in a busy clinical MFR setting, delivering 15–20 sessions per week and collaborating directly with healthcare providers to coordinate patient care.

Eric's approach is grounded in the understanding that chronic pain is rarely where it appears to be, and that lasting relief requires addressing the fascial system as a whole rather than chasing isolated symptoms. He works with a wide range of clients, including those managing fibromyalgia, carpal tunnel syndrome, post-surgical restrictions, athletic injuries, and complex chronic pain conditions that have resisted other interventions.

He maintains SOAP documentation, communicates with referring providers when appropriate, and builds individualized treatment plans for each client. His goal is not just temporary relief, but meaningful, measurable progress toward a body that functions and feels the way it should.
